Plant it in general-purpose soil with some extra humus and place it in an east or west window or in a fully light north window. It grows fast and does not need unusual humidity. They have a liking for grape ivy. Give the foliage a hard water spray every week at the sink to keep them under control, and pick off any you see, along with their egg masses, with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.  Boston ivy is a true climber, attaching to masonry and wooden surfaces using holdfasts (aerial roots). Alternatively, you can let it spread out horizontally to function as a ground coverBoston ivy does best in well-drained, loamy soil, but it will tolerate many different soil conditions, as well as urban pollution.
